I was born in Miami, Florida and moved to Charlotte with my family when I was 5. My parents are from Chinandega, Nicaragua. They came to America for good health care for the oldest of my siblings, Hazel who had cerebral palsy. Because of my sister I am now in America and am in the dance company. Through one of her after school programs is where I met a family friend, who was also familiar with Gladys (which is now like a mother to me) and the dance company. He suggested I join the dance company to my mother, who also happened to dance and do dance competitions in Nicaragua when she was younger. My mother was very fond of the idea and I began when I was 7. I had a rough start because I could barely walk correctly but the dance company helped me with confidence, posture, and discipline. I was immediately in love with dance and couldn’t stop. I went from tripping over my own feet to being a dance instructor in 13 years of being in the dance company. I teach because I love dancing, being on stage, and love the Latino culture. I love my heritage and want to pass it along to every person I can. Other than being a dancer I am a full time college student trying to major in sonography and work as a hostess at Red Rocks cafe.
